I'm gonna try and do what Chris is trying to do and watch a film a day then write about it here. No idea why I'm doing it, I just am and I'll probably end up flunking out of uni cause of it... oh well :P
Unlike Chris though, I'm just gonna watch whatever comes in front of me. There's no rhyme or reason to it. Most of the time it'll likely just be me taking a look in my cupboard and picking something at random; some of the time I'll just watch something on film4 or one of the other free movie channels like True Movies if it still exists because my parents were too cheep to go all out for the sky package that has movie channels; occasionally I'll stream something off the internet and when this happens you can be pretty sure that I won't have paid for it ;-)
The Rules:
1) Since 2008 is a leap year, I need to have watched 366 films by midnight on Wednesday 31 December 2008.
2) I do not have to watch one film every single day: I can watch no films on a certain day, then two films the following day for example. The only important figure is the final total at the end of the year.
3) Short films will not be counted: a film must be over 60 minutes in length to qualify. So I can’t cheat by watching a “short films collection” DVD.
4) If I fall asleep during a film (which is known to happen), I am allowed to resume the film later from where I left off.
5) Feature-length TV episodes (such as the Family Guy “movie” DVD) do not qualify: the film has to be widely accepted as a proper movie.
6) Duplicates do not count (in other words, if I watch Airplane! in March then watch it again in October, that only counts as one film). This way I can't cheat by watching a favourite, short-ish film numerous times.
I am, however, willing to stretch the rule about short films. I can forsee myself watching a few episodes of a TV show then claiming it as a movie but only in extreme circumstances.
